From challenge to solution

Less segregation, more diversity

– an educational project for inclusiveness –

Schools do not comply with the indicators and do not possess the framework to undergo intercultural teaching activities.

Forming an applicable framework for the methodology, as to encourage non-discriminatory and collaborative interactions between multi-ethnical communities.

Absence of a curriculum moulded on the desegregation indicators methodology (both for teachers as well as for students) which would facilitate the undertaking of school and community activities in regard to education and equity themes.

Developing an accredited curriculum for the teachers and a curriculum for the students of the primary and lower secondary degree education, tested in 7 different Romanian communities and further implemented on a national level.

The academic staff does not possess the necessary competences as to forward the intercultural teachings during classes and on to the community.

A pilot program for forming and mentoring the academic staff of public education.

Low degree of cooperation between the members of the communities, regardless of ethnic background, religion, profile.

Diminishing segregation and prejudice-guided behaviour through community intervention activities and leadership development for the students, together with community members.

Insufficient campaigns bringing awareness to multi-ethnical themes, stereotypes, prejudice.

A campaign for communication and raising the awareness degree regarding ethnicity and cultural diversity, based on real facts.

The goal of the project is to create a favourable framework to comply with the right to education, equal and non-discriminatory treatment based on ethnicity, considering the 7 communities with the potential of having more informed citizens, with a less discriminatory behaviour towards the Roma people.

The project, carried out on a period of 31 months, will create a welcoming space between education experts, political decision-makers, professionals of the non-governmental environment on a national level, parents, students, teachers and school managers from 7 communities, where the share of Roma students is of at least 50%.
